Fire Department
The Midland Volunteer Fire Department is an independently chartered fire department recognized by the Borough as the provider of fire service to Midland. The department also provides First Responder QRS within the Borough , offering timely intervention in medical emergencies. The department responds on calls 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

TRASH
- For Animal and pest control purposes trash cans must have close fitting lids.
- Please do not place trash to curb until the evening before pick-up and remove cans as soon as possible following pick-up.
- Mattress and box springs MUST be wrapped in plastic or have appropriate covers before they will be picked up.

ANIMALS
- All dogs must have proper licenses.
- All dogs and cats must have proper shots.
- It is not permitted for any dog or cat to be upon any public highway, street, alley, park or any other public land or upon property of another person other than the owner, and not be accompanied by or under the control of the owner or any person having custody of said dog or cat.
- Dog or cat feces must be removed from owner’s property daily.Dog or cat feces must be removed from public or private property immediately.
TETHERING OF UNATTENDED DOG
- Tethering an unattended dog out of doors for less than nine hours within a 24-hour period when all of the following conditions are present shall create a rebuttable presumption that a dog has not been the subject of neglect within the meaning of section 5532 (relating to neglect of animal):
- The tether is of a type commonly used for the size and breed of dog and is at least three times the length of the dog as measured from the tip of its nose to the base of its tail or 10 feet, whichever is longer.
- The tether is secured to a well-fitted collar or harness by means of a swivel anchor, swivel latch or other mechanism designed to prevent the dog from becoming entangled.
- The tethered dog has access to potable water and an area of shade that permits the dog to escape the direct rays of the sun.
- The dog has not been tethered for longer than 30 minutes in temperatures above 90 or below 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
PROPERTY MAINTENANCE
- All owners, occupants and tenants of property within the Borough of Midland shall keep the weeds, grass and other plants, not useful or ornamental, cut down, and shall not allow any such grass, weeds or plants to grow to a height of more than four (4) inches.
- All owners, tenants or occupants of property within the Borough of Midland shall keep the public sidewalks along or upon the same free and clear from grass and weeds and also keep said sidewalks free from the overhanging of trees, shrubbery, or other growth upon the property, that may in any way be detrimental to or cause any annoyance, discomfort, danger, or inconvenience to the use of the sidewalks by the traveling public.
